What you get on this page
- A free, step-by-step guide to Swiss naturalisation, translated into English
- Explanations of the requirements, timeline and costs, kept accurate and up to date
- A civics knowledge test to practise ahead of your interview
- Information on the required language test (B1 spoken, A2 written)
- A cost calculator to estimate the fees in your canton
One thing worth knowing upfront
Our explanations and guide are available in English. The multiple-choice knowledge test itself, however, is only available in German or French, the official languages of the naturalisation exam in most cantons. We will not pretend there is an English version of the exam, because there is not. We would rather tell you that clearly from the start.
