Independent practice platform - Not official

3,600 naturalisations in Zurich alone. How many of them practised?

Most of them. And that is exactly why this site exists. No course provider, no authority, no sales pitch. Just practising until it sticks.

Why this site exists

Let's be honest: have you ever tried preparing for the Swiss citizenship test? Then you probably know how it goes. You google "Swiss citizenship test practice" and end up on an official site with PDF downloads from 2019. Or with a course provider trying to sell you "intensive exam preparation" for CHF 800.

That annoyed us. The test itself is manageable, 48 questions, 60% is enough. But without proper practice material, you are stumbling in the dark.

So we built this platform. No courses, no forced subscription for the first questions, no bureaucratic jargon. Just a site where you can practise until you could pass the test in your sleep.

What awaits you here

We built two modes that have proven themselves.

In practice mode, you pick a topic, geography, history, politics or culture, and work through the questions. Got one wrong? You see the right answer straight away. That is what makes it stick.

The test simulation is the real dress rehearsal. 48 questions, a time limit, exactly like the real test. Whoever passes here, passes there too. Full stop.

On top of that come our tools: the Citizenship Check tells you in two minutes whether you even meet the requirements. The Cost Calculator shows you what naturalisation costs in your canton. And the Cantons Quiz teaches you, in a playful way, where Glarus actually is. Spoiler: most people get it wrong.

The quiz itself runs in German or French; this guide and our tools, though, you can use in your own language.

48 questions, 60%, done?

Almost. The citizenship test checks basic knowledge about Switzerland. Sounds harmless. But hand on heart, when was the Federal Constitution adopted? How many cantons have a Landsgemeinde? What is the difference between the National Council and the Council of States?

Exactly. These are not rocket-science questions, but they are not things you just know either. The good news: most of it you have already picked up somewhere along the way living in Switzerland. You are just missing the last few pieces of the puzzle.

By the way, in Lucerne you need 70% instead of 60%. Differences like this between cantons are not compiled anywhere else. We have them.

What we are not

Einbuergerungsquiz.ch is not an official government website. We hold no official mandate and are no substitute for consulting your local commune. Our questions are modelled on the real exam topics, but they are not identical to the questions you will get in the actual test.

For official information on the procedure, we recommend ch.ch or the naturalisation authority of your canton directly. You will also find the links on our cantonal pages.
